The backbone of Sirius Benefits Consulting, Ltd. is our voluntary benefits division.  As employers look for ways to shift insurance costs to employees, voluntary benefits have become a bigger part of the overall solution.  What are Voluntary benefits?

Voluntary benefits have two different and unique platforms.  The worksite platform includes products offered by such carriers as Allstate, Colonial, Aflac, Transamerica and others.  Participation requirements are minimal and the policies are owned by the employee.  Employees pick and choose their benefit levels.  When they leave employment, employees can generally take the policies with them.  Rates for these policies normally remain unchanged for the life of the policy.

Group voluntary benefits are generally much lower in terms of cost.  Participation requirements are normally required and the policy is owned by the employer.  Employees also have the option to pick and choose benefit levels but rates do normally increase as employees advance through age brackets.

Which approach is right for your company?  That depends on many factors such as the underlying medical plan, what other benefits are currently offered, size of group, industry, average salary, enrollment method available and more.
